FRST Midwest is a non-profit organization established in 2019 to provide educational programs to promote healthy development following stress and critical incidents experienced by first responders and their families, including collaboration with culturally competent mental health professionals. FRST is here to help first responders and their significant other or spouses heal from the debilitating impact of critical incident stress through their training, consultations and outreach. Throughout the year, FRST hosts different classes and events to help educate the first responder, significant other or spouses, and mental health professionals about the mental health needs for first responders. There is an in-depth retreat called the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat (WCPR), a very intensive six day program that provides an environment for the promotion of healing, education, and support to those dedicated to the emergency service professions. Basic and Advanced Peer Support Training will equip First Responders, Chaplains and Mental Health Professionals with listening skills to recognize, help to prevent and understand the effects of stress and refer to outside resources, if needed. FRST also provides resources to help educate and add important tools to the mental toolbox. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to contact us.
